For a while now I've been collecting audio files to start my first track on the concept EP, primarily from CD's and online, however I will soon complete my list of samples to obtain, by venturing up to the city in order to record them. The first track i've started working on is the track that's going to be based on the city of London, concentrating on the diverse races that make up the capital. The other 2 tracks that I'll be producing, will be based on other parts of the country.
Furthermore, for a while now I've been trying to establish an industrial, face-paced break that will be the foundations for my inner city track, where upon i can layer many of the hard sounds that are common in the city today, as to obtain a full and relative base. Below are the finished breaks, with variants to mix up the track.
Upon slicing up the break, I imported the Rex file into an already existing Logic Project, in order to rearrange the beats to my preferred taste, I've also layered the beats, with other samples, and processed them heavily in order to obtain the correct sound. Here you can clearly see the beats arrange page, with beats mixer. the final mixing stage of the break, i found that i achieved a better result from using a slice of a underground train sample, heavily processed in order to obtain the right reults.. using this process worked so well, i dont think im ever going to use a real snare again for my D&B tracks. it took a lot of work with EQ, reverb, and enveloping to get there, but it was worth it in the end. i used the same technique for the highs and the kicks in the end.
